Southern Africa Foundation for Agriculture & Climate Change (SAFFACC) is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to maximize benefits to society and the environment, through the provision of a diverse range of frontline and support services, including the promotion of private sector and local community partnerships in Rural Development, including Conservation Farming, Climate Smart Agriculture, and supporting biodiversity conservation, inclusive of mitigation of human-wildlife conflicts, environmental education, fisheries production and governance and wildlife and forestry management.

The Mission of SAFFACC is to work with a wide variety of stakeholders in rural development typed in sustainable innovations in agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and building the capacity of local governance institutions in the promotion of ecosystem-based approaches to adapting and mitigating climate change impact.

The Southern African Foundation for Agriculture & Climate Change's (SAFFACC’s) vision is to contribute to building the capacity of society to sustainably manage and use natural resources, adopt climate-smart agricultural systems, steeped in a knowledge culture, free from poverty, hunger, and malnutrition, and one that can contribute to mitigating the harmful effects of climate change.

Dr. Simon Munthali
Dr. Munthali holds professional degrees in Agriculture, Wildlife Biology and PhD in Ichthyology. Starting his career as a park manager in 1981 in Malawi, he has held various senior positions in southern Africa, including heading the SADC Wildlife Technical Coordination Unit; Chief Technical Advisor for the World Bank’s Transfrontier Conservation Areas Project involving Mozambique, South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe; Regional Director (southern Africa) for the African Wildlife Foundation; Technical Advisor to the BMZ/KfW funded Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area programme - covering Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia & Zimbabwe.
Dr. Munthali contributes to international discourse on terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity conservation through publishing some of his work in various international journals, including: African Journal of Ecology; Journal of Biodiversity & Conservation; Journal of Applied Ichthyology; Natural Resources Forum; Journal of Zoology (London) and Oryx. He also occasionally edits papers submitted for publication in the Journal of Society & Natural Resources; and Journal of Environment & Development. In recognition of his contribution to biodiversity conservation, Dr. Munthali received the WWF GOLDEN PANDA AWARD in 1997. Dr. Munthali also has extensive experience in carrying out consultancies, and has done a number of assignments on environmental management, ecotourism and natural resources management funded by a number of international donors, NGOs and governments, including: World Bank, EC/Tanzania, FAO, UNDP, USAID, Norwegian Embassy/Zambia, DANIDA/Malawi, ULG, IUCN, AWF, WWF, SADC, SARDC, and Mpumalanga Tourism & Parks Agency/South Africa.
